Chickasaws earn first victory of season

CHICKASAWS EARN FIRST VICTORY OF SEASON

The Blytheville Chickasaws (1-11) finally picked up a win on the 2018 season Friday with a 13-3 victory over the Earle Bulldogs. In the first three frames of the game, the Chicks scored nine runs to lead 9-2 after three innings. BHS added four runs to their lead in the bottom of the fourth inning to lead 13-2. The Bulldogs added a run in the top of the fifth but didn’t score again in the inning to give the Chicks a 13-3 victory in five innings. Leading the Chicks offensively were Vancell Lucas (1-2 with two runs and an RBI), Mac Connell (1-1 with two runs and an RBI), Darren Henderson (run scored), Ronald Connor (run scored), Garrett Cloud (run scored), Damon Gardner (run scored), Austin Fink (two runs scored), Corey Chunn (run scored), Devion Young ( 1-1 with a run scored) and Josh Wells (1-1 with an RBI). Lucas was the winning pitcher. He pitched four innings, allowing two runs on one hit and four walks. He fanned nine batters. Myron Diamond grabbed the save as he struck out three batters and walked four. He allowed one run to cross the plate. BHS traveled to Marion Tuesday to face the Patriots. Results were unavailable at press time. The Lady Chickasaws traveled Monday to Cooter where they split a doubleheader with the Lady Wildcats. The Lady Chicks defeated the Lady Wildcats 22-4 in three innings but were narrowly defeated in game two 11-10. The Lady Chicks also traveled to Marion Tuesday to take on the Lady Patriots.
