STATE-BOUND CHICKS PLAYING FOR THIRD

Two six-point quarters hurt the Blytheville Chickasaws' (16-12) chances as they fell, 56-51, in overtime, Thursday, in a semifinal matchup with the Valley View Blazers. The Chickasaws trailed 27-20 at the half and were outscored 11-6 in the overtime. The Chickasaws were led by senior guard Tony Newmy, Jr. with 19 points. Junior forward Winston Peace chipped in 10 points and senior center Jaureous Haynes added eight points. The Chickasaws will face the Wynne Yellowjackets Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the third-place game. Blytheville has already qualified for the Class 5A State Tournament, and the third-place game will determine seeding for that tournament.
