CHICKS FALL TO HURRICANE
The Jonesboro Hurricane blew away any chance of a road victory for the Blytheville Chickasaws Thursday, as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
BHS was unable to overcome the three-run inning in losing 12-2.
The Chickasaws posted a run in the top half of the second but the Hurricane added eight more runs in the bottom half to lead 8-1.
Both the Chickasaws and Hurricane added a run in the third, but the Hurricane added three more runs in the bottom half of the fifth to defeat the Chickasaws, 12-2, in five innings.
The Chickasaws will take off next week for spring break and will look to host the West Memphis Blue Devils on Tuesday, March 27 at 4:30 p.m.
Blytheville vs. Paragould
PARAGOULD-- The Blytheville Chickasaws (0-6) led nearly half the game Tuesday against 5A-East opponent the Paragould Rams before giving up three runs in the bottom of the sixth to allow the Rams to defeat the Chickasaws, 5-3, for the second time on the young season. The Rams defeated the Chicks 13-3 last Friday.
The Chicks’ offense rattled off 10 hits against the Rams.
Leading BHS offensively were Vancell Lucas (2-4 with two runs scored), Mac Connell (3-4 with a run scored), Darren Henderson (2-3), Michael Caruthers (1-3) and Corey Chunn (2-2).
Senior Austin Fink pitched 5.1 innings with three earned runs, and he struck two Rams batters out.
